Description

The olive tree belongs to the Oleaceae family. The plant starts to fruition towards the 3rd to 4th year; full productivity starts at 9 ° -10 ° year; maturity is reached after 50 years. It is a very long plant: in favorable climatic conditions an olive tree can live for a thousand years. The stem is cylindrical and twisted. It is an evergreen plant, whose activity is almost continuous, with attenuation in the winter. It suffers from shading, producing a poor blossom. The climatic factor determining the distribution of the olive is the temperature: the plant manifests symptoms of suffering at temperatures of 3-4 ° C.
